The pathway

How our treatment works.

Four steps, built around you. Every programme begins with a self-test and a screening call so we can match you to the right level of support.
01

Take the self-test

Complete our free, anonymous gambling addiction test online. Your answers are analysed to determine your level of addiction and the right treatment pathway for you.

02

In-depth screening

A trained counsellor will contact you for a confidential screening call. This helps us understand your situation fully — including any underlying conditions such as depression, PTSD, or alcohol use.

03

Your treatment plan

Based on your screening, we assign you to the right programme: online or telephone counselling for mild cases, or outpatient and inpatient treatment for more severe addiction.

04

Aftercare & follow-up

Our programmes last 1 to 3 months. After completion, we continue to check in with you to make sure you are maintaining your recovery and thriving long after the formal treatment ends.

Our programmes

Three pathways. One starting point.

After your self-test and screening call, we’ll recommend one of the following programmes based on the severity of your addiction and any underlying conditions.
Programme 01

Online & telephone counselling

For people with mild gambling addiction symptoms. Delivered via WhatsApp and phone calls, this programme is flexible and can fit around your schedule. After completing the self-test and screening, you'll be connected with your own counsellor for regular sessions. Ideal if you are still functioning day-to-day but know your gambling is becoming a problem.

Programme 02

Outpatient & inpatient treatment

For those with chronic or severe gambling addiction. You may be referred to this programme if you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, PTSD, alcohol dependency, job loss, divorce, or serious family breakdown caused by gambling. Our clinical team will work with you intensively over a structured period to address both the addiction and any underlying mental health conditions.

Programme 03

Aftercare services

Recovery doesn't end when your programme does. All GamHelp Kenya clients receive structured aftercare — regular follow-up calls, access to support groups, and an open door to return to counselling if you need it. We believe long-term recovery requires long-term support.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

Is treatment really free?

Yes. All GamHelp Kenya programmes are completely free of charge. We are a non-profit organisation funded by donations and partners. There is no cost to you at any stage.

Is my information confidential?

Absolutely. Everything you share with us — your name, your story, your screening results — is strictly confidential. We will never share your information without your consent.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. You can contact us directly without any referral. Just call, WhatsApp, or take the self-test and we will take it from there.

How long does treatment take?

Our programmes typically run between 1 and 3 months depending on your level of addiction and the treatment pathway assigned. Aftercare continues beyond this.

What if I'm not ready to commit?

That's okay. You can take the self-test anonymously, or simply call us for a confidential conversation with no pressure and no obligation.
